Judith Schaechter

I have made stained glass windows since 1980 when I took a stained glass elective at Rhode Island School of Design.  I was attracted to the medium for its mostly unexplored expressive “painterly” possibilities, its freedom from the weight of the history of painting and Fine Art and its uncanny ability to cure my attention deficit issues.
I have created and exhibited almost exclusively in the medium of stained glass for more than 25 years.  I will probably always do stained glass to some capacity, but not I find myself at a point where I need to change my approach, perhaps radically.  I am very eager to try something new and what I would like to investigate is sculpture.
