The Virginia A. Groot Foundation proudly announces the successful completion of the Virginia A. Groot Material Exploration Residency at the Center for Craft’s Ideation Lab in Asheville, North Carolina. This 8-week program, designed for previous Virginia A. Groot awardees and honorable mention recipients, featured artists Justin Archer and c marquez. They worked alongside WNC Center for Craft Residents Nava Lubelski and Luis A. Sahagun, engaging in hands-on material exploration with local craft organizations and expanding their artistic practices.
The residency provided each artist with independent studio time, collaborative opportunities, and access to regional craft schools. Supported by a $10,000 honorarium, studio space, and shared resources, the residency reinforced the Foundation’s mission of fostering innovation in sculpture.
