Position Details:
Gustavus Adolphus College invites applications for a full-time, 9-month position of Visiting Assistant Professor and Artist-in-Residence in the Department of Art and Art History to begin September 1, 2017.


Minimum Required Qualifications:
We seek candidates who have an MFA degree or equivalent.


Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to first-, second-, and third-place winners of the Virginia A. Groot Foundation award (http://www.virginiaagrootfoundation.org/). We are interested in applicants who will complement our commitment to students and faculty from diverse cultural groups, and who will diversify the expertise and experiences represented in the department.


Major/Essential Functions:
The teaching assignment for this position will include one course per semester in the candidate’s area of expertise and a possible one-month experiential course taught in January (depending on candidate interest and the needs of the College); courses will be open to art majors as well as non-art majors. Other responsibilities include: maintaining an on-campus studio open to all students, faculty, and campus visitors; service as a resource through activities such as student critiques, class visits, lectures, and community building; and developing and delivering departmental programming. The successful candidate will have access to special Groot Foundation funding for supplies and on-campus programming.
